AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A strange meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes echo through the shadows." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden sect.
The questline centers on "bizarre tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Features
Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This update also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
